Mount Wachusett Community College is Hiring a Career Development Counselor Near Leominster, MA

Job Description:

General Statement of Duties:

The Career Development Counselor provides high quality career services to customers of the MassHire North Central Career Center. The Career Development Counselor collaborates with team members to provide job seeker services and WIOA Title I Case Management services to job seekers within North Central Massachusetts. As such, the Career Development Counselor conducts career center seminars introducing customers to the full spectrum of services available through the MassHire North Central Career Center and partner agency network within the region. Additionally, the Career Development Counselor provides a wide breadth of job seeker services including but not limited to: job search support, accessing and utilizing labor market data, resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, accessing education and training options within the region, accessing financial support for education and training options for eligible individuals, conducting follow-up activities to collect required reportable data (as necessary), career planning activities including career assessments and short and long term planning efforts, and ongoing case management activities as needed. The Career Development Counselor supports the strategic efforts of both the college and the MassHire North Central Career Center.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct on-site and remote Career Center Seminars introducing MassHire North Central Career Center customers to policies and procedures of the Career Center and full spectrum of job seeker services available through the Career Center and regional partner agencies.
  • Conduct information sessions and recruitment activities for career services offered through the MassHire North Central Career Center.
  • Support a welcoming and inclusive environment within the MassHire North Central Career Center.
  • Utilize technology to support the delivery of high quality job seeker services and to increase access to these services for job seekers with barriers to participation including but not limited to transportation barriers.
  • Complete initial eligibility screening for reemployment education and training programs available to job seekers within North Central Massachusetts including but not limited to, WIOA Title I Eligible Training Programs, TRADE programs, and specialized training options within North Central Massachusetts.
  • Conduct career planning activities including the administration of career assessments, job search activities, and education and training options supporting established career goals.
  • Maintain knowledge of partner agency services and enrollment processes.
  • Make active referrals to partner agencies including WIOA core partners and other support agencies within North Central Massachusetts.
  • Maintain an active knowledge of workforce training programs offered through MWCC's Division of Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development.
  • Attend all staff meetings as assigned by the VP of Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development or their designee.
  • Participate in college service activities such as search committees and college committees as assigned by the VP of Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development or their designee.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or closely related field;
  • Three (3) years experience and/or training that includes vocational counseling, vocational testing/assessment, vocational referrals, employment services, or career development/transition; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Additional Information:

Salary:$57,249.00-$97,580.00

**** Actual Salary determined by education, experience, and any applicable grant limitations per the collective bargaining agreement. Applicants should be aware it is unlikely the salary will be at or near the top of the range.
