General Statement of Duties:

The Career Development Counselor, reporting to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management division, is responsible for facilitating student career development and assisting to build career communities via faculty/employer engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide career/life planning/counseling to students, supporting student readiness via career goal setting/ decision making, self-assessments/inventories, and creating programs aligned with career communities;
  • Serve as career advisor to students;
  • Promotes "one voice" model of employer development via communication/partnership across campus;
  • Assists in building specific communication plans for each program and career pathway to students on career choices beginning at onboarding and each semester thereafter;
  • Serve as liaison to off-campus employers, assisting in building employer engagement;
  • Facilitates conversations and engage faculty in career development and career community building;
  • Collaborates with academic deans and program chairs to incorporate Advisory boards into career planning outreach and programming needs;
  • Works with academic advisory boards to develop external career and job placement alignments
  • Assists with facilitation of alumni career panels in consultation with faculty and dept. chairs
  • Facilitates distribution of job and employment trend information with faculty and staff.

Job Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Education, or closely related field;
  • Three (3) years' experience and/or training that includes career counseling, career placement, academic advising, veterans counseling, and records maintenance; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Reliable transportation (Must be able to travel to other campuses as needed),
  • Confirmed in-person service delivery required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing career plans and cooperative education experiences;
  • Experience working within a community college environment;
  • Project management oversight with multiple teams, managing multiple projects concurrently;
  • Bilingual.

Additional Information:


Salary: $52,754.00- 89,919.00

**** Actual Salary determined by education, experience, and any applicable grant limitations per the collective bargaining agreement. Applicants should be aware it is unlikely the salary will be at or near the top of the range.

Monday -Thursday: 9:00a.m. -5:00 p.m. (2 days), 10:00 a.m. -6 p.m. (2 days)
