JOB TITLE: Development and Communications Manager
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Resource Development
LOCATION: Hybrid (2-3 days in office)
SALARY: $60,000-$65,000 annually
ABOUT AAFSC:
The Arab-American Family SupportCenter (AAFSC) is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization established in 1994to provide culturally and linguistically competent, trauma-informed socialservices. Our mission is to empower immigrants and refugees with the tools theyneed to successfully acclimate to the world around them and become activeparticipants in their communities. While our doors are open to all, AAFSC hasdeveloped cultural and linguistic expertise in serving members of NYC’s Arab,Middle Eastern, North African, Muslim, and South Asian (AMENAMSA) immigrant andrefugee communities. AAFSC promotes mental and physical well-being andcommunity power. We ensure families are knowledgeable about their rights andequipped to participate in civic society with confidence and security. We helpprevent child abuse and work to end domestic- and gender-based violence. Weprovide the tools for learners of every age to succeed. Finally, we help liftup the voices and needs of under-represented communities and champion gender-,racial-, restorative-, and immigrant justice.
JOB SUMMARY:
AAFSC provides direct services to theAMENAMSA community in NYC, allowing the Development and Communications Manager toamplify our clients' experiences to various audiences, including partnerorganizations, elected officials, funders, and media/press. Through a range of creativecommunications tools, including email newsletters, social media, websites,videos, and more, we give voice and shape to important issues in the communitythat require resources to be addressed effectively. Some topics include mentalhealth, domestic and gender-based violence, food insecurity, housing, civicengagement/advocacy, and, most recently, the increase of migrants in NYC.
In addition to being an excellentcommunicator, a successful person in this role will demonstrate that they are aneffective problem solver, creative thinker, and trusted partner to seniorleadership in a mission-driven organization. The Development and CommunicationsManager will help lead internal organizational culture-building communications andrepresent a willingness to build and maintain positive relationships with staffacross various programs and teams. Acommitment to immigrant, refugee, and low-income communities is essential forthis role.
