Grain Operations Manager

Position Objective:

The Grain Operations Manager plays a pivotal role within our client's organization - ensuring the smooth daily operation and management of grain facilities, maintaining efficiency, and upholding quality standards while delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities :

The individual will oversee a range of operational tasks including but not limited to:

  • Supervising elevator operators and providing direction for daily tasks
  • Conducting inbound and outbound grain weighing and grading
  • Loading and unloading rail cars as needed
  • Monitoring for and managing spilled grain cleanup
  • Securing all buildings, bins, and equipment
  • Addressing timecard errors and documenting unexcused absences
  • Conducting predictive/preventative maintenance procedures on equipment
  • Creating and maintaining checklists for equipment maintenance
  • Inspecting elevators, bins, pipes, and attached equipment for leaks or damage
  • Inspecting currently stored grain and facility equipment
  • Periodic cleaning and restoration of grain bins
  • Grounds and custodial maintenance duties as required
  • Preparing bins for upcoming harvest annually or seasonally

Competencies & Abilities:

  • Ability to lead and direct teams efficiently
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of work schedule planning and prioritization
  • Ability to climb to elevated areas and perform maintenance tasks as required

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Supervisory experience preferred
  • Five years of related work experience
  • Possession of or ability to obtain Federal grain inspection/weighing license
  • Familiarity with agricultural practices and local producers
  • Commercial Drivers License (CDL) preferred
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and experience operating heavy equipment
  • Electrical knowledge, especially with 3-phase motors, is a plus
  • Welding proficiency is preferred
  • Basic computer proficiency

Working Environment:

The position entails exposure to external elements, temperature fluctuations, heights, confined spaces, and variable working hours including nights and weekends, particularly during peak seasons such as harvest.

Commensurate with experience
