The infant room Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting in establishing a nurturing classroom environment that promotes the social, emotional, cognitive, creative, physical, and linguistic development of infants in cooperative involvement with their families. This is a Part-Time position at our Eastman location in Concord, NH.
Duties

Prepare Infants for Success

  • Assists in creating an environment that facilitates the achievement of early childhood outcomes:
  • Organizes and maintains a developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive learning environment; ensuring a healthy, safe, clean environment both inside and out of the facility.
  • Provides nurturing routines such as diapering, dressing, and feeding infants.
  • Supervises sleeping infants.
  • Creates a dynamic, fun, creative, and interactive classroom experience.
  • Assist in assessing members’ performance and progress to ensure that they are gaining new skills on a regular basis.
  • Provides guidance and role modeling to members.

Program Development and Implementation

1.Assists to ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis, verifies that programs/activities respond to member needs, and addresses their gender and cultural diversity.

2.Assists with proper attendance record keeping, including activities and events conducted.

3.Facilitates open and effective, professional verbal and written communication with families, staff, and children.

4.Increases visibility of Club programs via posting of the daily schedule, announcements of upcoming events, parent emails, etc.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisors to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.

External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents, and others to assist in resolving problems when required.
Requirements

•Must be at least 16 years of age; and work with children only under the direct supervision and observation of a staff person.

•Some knowledge of child development and the latest educational theories and practices.

•Ability to motivate members and assist in managing behavior problems with patience.

•Ability to communicate with parents/guardians.

•Ability to assist in the planning of programming and implement quality programs; proven track of having creative and artistic teaching abilities.

•Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications in order to meet Bureau of Childcare licensing requirements.

•May be required to drive Club van/short bus periodically.

•Must possess a safe driving record and submit a copy of such record to either the Operations Director or Human Resources Generalist.

•May be required to assist in cleaning and organizing the Club.

•Must be willing to travel between locations when requested. (Only occasional travel is required)

•All of the candidates that are offered a job with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire will have to submit for an FBI fingerprint background check and submit to a background check through the State of NH Criminal Records Dept. and FirstAdvantage. Note: The State of NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit you from being employed by the Boys Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire should there be a disqualifying finding on your criminal record. In addition, even if the State of NH reviews your records and allows you to work at the Club, we still reserve the right to determine your employment status.
