The Role

As a Bookkeeper your will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Working closely with the finance team, you will handle day-to-day bookkeeping tasks and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. 

This is a part-time role working on-site at our office in Martinez on average 15 hours a week. 

A Few Key Responsibilities:

• Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
• Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies as needed.
• Generate customer invoices and track accounts receivable.
• Record day-to-day financial transactions in the general ledger.
• Maintain accurate records of income and expenses.
• Prepare journal entries and adjustments as necessary.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Identify and investigate any discrepancies or unusual transactions.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
• Generate ad-hoc financial reports as requested by management.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting regulations.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records for audit purposes.
• Assist in analyzing financial data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide support for budgeting and forecasting activities.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Proven experience as a bookkeeper or similar role.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with biotech or life sciences industry (preferred but not required).
