Responsibilities:

1. Activity Planning and Coordination:

   • Develop, plan, and coordinate a diverse range of recreational activities and programs to meet the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents.
   • Collaborate with the Activities Director to create a monthly calendar of events, ensuring a variety of activities for residents to enjoy.

2. Resident Engagement:

   • Encourage and motivate residents to participate in scheduled activities, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.
   • Identify and address individual resident preferences and interests to tailor activities to their unique needs.

3. Assistance with Special Events:

   • Assist in organizing and executing special events such as birthday parties, holiday celebrations, and themed gatherings to create a lively and enjoyable atmosphere.

4. Documentation and Reporting:

   • Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities, noting preferences and feedback.
   • Provide regular updates to the Activities Director on the success of programs and any suggested improvements.

5. Collaboration with Staff:

   • Work collaboratively with other departments, including nursing and therapy teams, to ensure a holistic approach to resident care.
   • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss resident progress and adjust activity plans accordingly.

6. Safety and Wellness:

   • Ensure the safety of residents during activities, making necessary accommodations for individual physical abilities and health conditions.
   • Promote overall wellness by integrating activities that stimulate cognitive, physical, and emotional well-being.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in recreation, social work, or a related field are a plus.
• Previous experience working with elderly individuals, particularly in a healthcare or assisted living setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Creative and innovative mindset to design and implement engaging activities.
• Ability to adapt activities to accommodate varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities.
• Basic understanding of the therapeutic benefits of recreational activities for seniors.
