George Fox University's announces a part-time, adjunct faculty position in Communication Studies, to begin in the Summer 2024 semester, as needed. The Department of Communication Studies & Cinematic Arts is seeking an instructor who is enthusiastic about educating the next generation of students and Communication Studies majors in our growing program. The ideal candidate for this position is innovative, collaborative, embracing of digital media, cultural diversity, and has a global perspective.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching responsibilities involving lecture and/or lab sections of the Communication and Society (COMM 111) course, both in asynchronous online and in person modalities. Other courses may also be available during the academic year.
    • COMM 111 Course Description: This course introduces students to the professional, personal, and spiritual dimensions of communication. By identifying how to live out one's faith in interpersonal relationships, through public presentations, and by engaging in mediated communication, students will be encouraged to pursue clarity in communication motivated by the question: how do we better understand others and help them to understand us?
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • M.A. or higher in communication or another related field.
  • Previous teaching experience in related fields is desirable (but not required).
  • Excellent professional, interpersonal, organization, and communication skills.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
