George Fox University - Faculty is Hiring an Assistant/Associate Professor of OTD & Doctoral Capstone Coordinator Near Newberg, OR

George Fox University announces a tenure-track faculty position in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program. Their team is seeking a full-time faculty member who is enthusiastic about educating the next generation of Occupational Therapists in the growing program. This individual will hold leadership and administration responsibilities of the capstone process.

About the Job:

As a full-time faculty member, the Capstone Coordinator teaches capstone courses, procures capstone sites, provides development to capstone mentors, and monitors student capstone process. He/She will also teach OTD courses in the curriculum and will ensure the OTD program's compliance with ACOTE accreditation and capstone requirements. This individual works closely with the OTD Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and reports directly to the OTD Program Director.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring compliance with ACOTE capstone requirements.
  • Procuring and developing capstone education sites that fit with course content and curriculum design.
  • Providing development to capstone community mentors and faculty mentors to support student learning experiences.
  • Placing students in capstone sites.
  • Supporting students while on the capstone.
  • Managing and teaching OTD and capstone courses and engaging in scholarship, and service activities for the Institution.
  • Demonstrating professional skills and interactions that support the mission and vision of the OTD program and the university.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
  • Other duties as assigned.

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • A Doctoral degree from a USDE-recognized accredited program.
  • A licensed occupational therapist (Or licensure eligible) in the state of Oregon.
  • A minimum of three years of clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist.
  • A NBCOT certification or eligibility for certification.
  • Evidence in teaching graduate courses and ability to use a Learning Management System(s) is preferred
  • Existing independent scholarly agenda, familiarity with Institutional Review Board (IRB) policies and procedures.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Preference will be given to those who have the following attributes:

  • Demonstrated evidence in research/ scholarly achievement.
  • Demonstrated evidence in teaching in interprofessional courses.
  • Prior experience with successful mentorship of student research and/or capstone projects.
  • Experience with ACOTE accreditation process and innovation with the hybrid educational model.

Salary and rank:

  • Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.

  • Work Period: 11 months (August 15th through July 14th)
  • Working Conditions: Physical requirements are similar to those of teaching and clinical environments.
