The Mental Health Technician will provide milieu management and continuous patient care supervision, interactions & role modeling to patients; ensure a safe environment, lead therapeutic MHT patient groups; conduct Q15 rounds and one to one patient supervision as well as participate in crisis intervention situations as needed. Follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient and maintain awareness of patient's individualized plan of care including goals and interventions.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Prior experience in a healthcare setting and/or previous behavioral health experience strongly preferred. BLS certification required. Additional Requirements: Must complete and maintain training in CPR and HWC (aggression management, crisis intervention and restraint training). Training may be obtained during new hire orientation. Must be able to prioritize workload and effectively multi-task in a fast paced environment. Excellent listening, communication, prioritization and follow through skills with strong focus on providing high quality patient care.
Additional Requirements:
Must complete and maintain training in CPR and HWC (aggression management, crisis intervention and restraint training).
Training may be obtained during the first week of employment during new hire orientation.
Understanding of The Joint Commission (TJC),OSHA, and state and federal regulatory requirements.
Must be able to prioritize workload and effectively multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Excellent listening and communication skills.
Focus on providing high quality patient care.
Physical Requirements:
Move efficiently enough to meet the needs of several patients and/or move rapidly to provide timely intervention of patient aggression. Able to sit or walk during work shift. Able to hear spoken words in a normal vocal range, respond to signals, alarms, codes or other displays. Recognize vocal intonation that signal changes in acuity. Able to bend, reach and stoop. Must write legibly so as to accurately convey information. Able to read instructions and complete documentation and reports. Restrain, as part of a team, an aggressive patient in a safe and therapeutic manner. Able to lift, position or move patients in order to perform (or assist in) searches and procedures, and/or administer injections. Perform activities requiring manual dexterity. Able to lift 30lbs.
