City of Show Low, Arizona is Hiring a Part Time Library Information Specialist Near Show Low, AZ

Description

We’re looking for a knowledgeable and friendly tech expert to help tutor the public in using computers, email, and the internet!
Positions Show Low Public Library as a major component of public education for all ages.
Fully embraces the library’s educational mission, effectively communicating the library’s curriculum, which comprises three pillars: self-directed education, research assistance and instruction, and instructive and enlightening experiences.
Plans, teaches, and facilitates public events, classes, seminars, and workshops, which reflect the educational goals of the library.
Provides high level technical hardware and software support to maintain and enhance the library’s computer systems.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general supervision of the Library Services Manager.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May supervise over other employees and volunteers as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Works at the help desk or a technical services desk.

Provides extraordinary customer service to the public.

Delivers research assistance and readers’ advisory assistance to the public.

Visits schools and other local organizations for events and works closely with community organizations to determine community needs.

May serve as the library’s systems administrator? Serves as project leader on various technical projects. Plans, develops, implements, and maintains the library’s computer network and website. Evaluates and analyzes processes, procedures, and workflows to determine the feasibility of different technology options and solutions.

May supervise and evaluate the job performance of other employees.

Recommends modifications to programs and the budget to the Library Services Manager? Assists in system analyses, computer configuration, planning, and training of employees on the library’s automated systems; Research, tests, and evaluates new software applications and upgrades to existing applications? Implements and installs upgrades to the system and to individual workstations. Monitors service contracts? Serves as the library’s liaison to the Information Systems Division.

Positions and promotes the library to meet the needs of the community.

Provides leadership and training to library employees to increase their skills in assigned functional area.

Communicates and enforces policies and procedures to the public; Responds to inquiries and resolves issues and concerns; communicates issues and concerns to supervisor.

Performs duties in strict compliance with appropriate safety and security standards; Ensures applicable safety and health rules and regulations are followed.

Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service; Participates in the accomplishment of organizational, departmental and workgroup goals and objectives.

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.

PERIPHERAL DUTIES:
Serves as a member of committees as assigned.

Answers phones, runs errands and acquires supplies as needed.

Desired Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent; and
  • Two (2) years of library, education, or information technology experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of libraries; Knowledge of the principles and practices of information technology systems; Knowledge of teaching and learning techniques.
  • Computer, software, and network maintenance skills; teaching skills for youth and/or adults.
  • People skills – ability to work effectively with others and enjoy it.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Tech savvy.

Special Requirements

  • Valid Arizona Driver License or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
  • Incumbents in this position are frequently required to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Personal computers, including Microsoft Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, Integrated Library Systems, printers, audio-visual equipment, phones, general office equipment, and automobiles.

Part time employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every (30) thirty hours worked. No other benefits will be offered to part time employees
