Participation in the HOPES or Fatherhood EFFECT program or in the Family Resource Center is required. Supervises: None Summary: The Peer Advocate is responsible for using sound professional judgment and best practices to ensure quality services are provided to the service population while maintaining compliance with established program standards. To successfully perform this job, the employee may be expected to perform the following, with or without reasonable accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990: Essential Functions: 1. Outreach and recruitment of participants for Family Resource Center activities, including efforts for minimizing attrition. 2. Establishes and maintains a trusting and professional working relationship with families by providing regular contact. 3. Administer intake, assessments, and screening tools to clients and family members. 4. Serves as a liaison for families to community resources. 5. Planning and scheduling family activities. 6. With approval of the Lead Resource Navigator, purchases basic needs/incentives for families as required. 7. Conduct systematic follow-ups for all families. 8. Conducts community outreach in educating parents, professionals, and others about the program and agency services. 9. Meets with supervisor on a bi-weekly basis to evaluate status of families on caseload. Measurable Deliverables: 1. Attend all required trainings. 2. Provide community education on child abuse prevention strategies. 3. Develop together with Lead Resource Navigator, updates, reminders, and community education information. Credentials, Skills and Abilities: 1. Maintain current licenses and certificates required for the position including but not limited to:  First Aid  CPR  Other 2. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens and maintain emotional control, and professional composure, at all times. 3. Provide proof or work eligibility status upon request. 4. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years) 5. Demonstrate the ability to: a. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics. b. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish. c. Work in a fast-paced environment. d. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position. e. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. f. Travel as needed. g. Manage time effectively and efficiently. 6.
