The Pelham School District is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Part-Time Custodian at Pelham Elementary School. This is a part-time, full year permanent position working 20 hours per week between the hours of 4pm and 8pm, during the school year when school is in session, and 11-3:30pm when school is not in session. This is a grade B position within the AFSCME bargaining unit with an hourly pay range of $16.90 to $18.09.

Responsibilities Include:

• Shovel and/or salt walkways, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as appropriate.
• Vacuum carpets, clean windows, sweep floors and dust furniture daily.
• Clean corridors after school each day, and during the day as required.
• Clean and disinfect bathrooms.
• Keep grounds free from rubbish.
• Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
• Remain on the school grounds during assigned shift hours.
• Move furniture or equipment within the building as required for various activities and as directed by the head custodian.
• Other assigned duties as required to fill job-related needs.

Requirements also include:

• Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician.
• Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Experienced in the use of custodial supplies, tools and accessories, including but not limited to floor scrubber machines, buffers, stripping and waxing equipment, etc.
• Basic computer skills, including but not limited to email usage.
• Acceptable Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI).
• Acceptable National Criminal Background Check, commonly referred to as a fingerprint check.
