Amherst Pelham Regional School District is Hiring a Clinician Near Amherst, MA

Summit Academy is the approved public day school of the Amherst-Pelham Regional Schools. The school serves students in grades 7-12 with IEPs with mental health and social/emotional challenges that are impacting their educational progress. The therapeutic learning environment is small, structured, and supportive to enable students to access education and make progress toward achieving their goals.
The school is seeking to hire a full-time clinician for the start of the 2024-2025 school year to be part of the Team and school community.
Qualifications:
Formal training and experience working with adolescents and families struggling with complex challenges, including mental health challenges, causing extended absences from school
Excellent case management skills
Demonstrated skill and experience in setting clinical goals and providing direct clinical support
to adolescents in the school setting, including collaborating with collateral/community-based mental health providers
Demonstrated skill and experience working with parents/guardians from an assets/strengths-based perspective
Demonstrated effectiveness with the development and continuous improvement of student support programming within a school environment
Cultural competency knowledge and skills
Understanding of LGBTQIA issues and needs
Bilingual candidates preferred
The clinician will have the following roles and responsibilities:
Provide group and individual counseling services
Design and deliver tiered supports and interventions
Universal supports
Tier 2 & 3 interventions
Case management services for assigned caseload
Participate in community meetings and team-building experiences
Provide classroom-based triage support and interventions to students
Collaborate and consult with school personnel on topics related to social/emotional learning and mental health issues
Work with the Principal as part of the school leadership team
Provide crisis intervention when needed
Do behavioral assessments and develop behavior support plans
Organize and provide monthly family meetings
Collaborate and consult with personnel and teams at the district schools regarding potential referrals and transition
Maintain contact with outside providers and agencies to facilitate a comprehensive approach to the student’s service delivery
Develop individual student goals and benchmarks, collect and analyze data, and prepare progress reports
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with the principal for ongoing programmatic review and development
IEP assessments, goal writing and progress reports as needed
Perform other related duties as required and assigned by the principal
Attend scheduled staff meetings
Assume any additional responsibilities as directed by the principal
Participate in and maintain approved de-escalation and restraint certification
Attend districtwide mental health team meetings and trainings
Collaborate with the middle & high school’s therapeutic program personnel
Self-harm and threat assessment screenings as indicated
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree or above in Social Work, Psychology, or other mental health provider field
Background working with children and adolescents with special educational needs
MA DESE School Adjustment Counselor or School Psychologist certification
