Purpose: The Food Service Assistant provides entry-level assistance in food service operations.

Hours: 4 hours per day

Schedule: Monday - Friday (9am - 1pm)

Contract Status: Regular/Probationary

FLSA Status: Non-exempt - Classified

Start Date: As soon as possible

Calendar: 179 Work Days

Rate: $15.40 with benefits

Retirement Contribution: Corvallis School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees. Upon eligibility, the district contributes 6% of an employee's salary to their Individual Account Program (IAP). Eligibility is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position. Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

* Corvallis High School / Central Kitchen

* Adams Elementary School

* Kathryn Jones Harrison Elementary School

* Lincoln Elementary School

* Mt. View Elementary School

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Assists the kitchen manager to implement the food service program in accord with federal, state, and district food service standards and procedures.

* Effectively work with and respond to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.

* Receives and accurately accounts for cash.

* Supervises students outside the classroom, as assigned, to support the district's discipline and instructional programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Basic knowledge of institutional food preparation techniques, including ability to operate institutional food preparation equipment.

* Knowledge of state nutritional and sanitary guidelines applicable to food service programs.

* Hold a current food handler's card.
