The Residential Overnight Worker safeguards the health and welfare of youth in residence, the overall safety of the campus and its property, and provides supervision for the care, welfare, safety and security of youth and fellow staff.
This is a part-time position working 24-32 hours weekly, including Saturday or Sunday.
The work hours are 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
The position comes with paid time off at a part-time accrual rate and holiday pay but no medical insurance benefits.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience:
· Minimum high school diploma.
· Dependable, reliable individual.
· Able to be alert and awake during the night shift.
Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug test (to include marijuana) and a TB skin test
Essential Functions:
· Arrive on duty each night on time, at the beginning of an assigned shift.
· Remain alert, awake, and available throughout the entire shift.
· Conduct and document bed checks of all students no less than every ½ hour throughout the night.
· Convey any special information concerning students directly to other staff at the change of shift.
· Read log regularly to familiarize self with the daily activities of the students with whom they will work, and also recording information about their shift in the daily log for the appropriate house.
· Follow proper 2-way radio protocols.
· While supervising a house, the Residential Overnight will assure that the house is kept in good order and cleaned at the start of each day by:
· Keeping house agency forms updated in house file cabinet and/or requests copies to be made.
· Assess the assigned house for damages and file necessary damage reports.
· Conduct periodic security checks of the house for contraband.
· Assure the general orderliness and cleanliness of the houses.
· Help to maintain clean staff office and bathroom.
· Assure that counseling sessions and any other documents are entered into database nightly.
· Assure that medical supplies are kept stocked.
· Awaken students only at the designated times through approved methods and remember that doing this sets the tone for the entire day.
· Ensure that all students conduct themselves in a well-behaved and orderly manner in the dining hall, house, or anywhere else.
· Attend scheduled team meetings (quarterly).
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge or Experience:
· General understanding of adolescent behavior.
· Understands and utilizes agency approved de-escalation and physical management policies and procedures.
· Must be open to new ideas, methods and situations.
· Shall be a person of good character who possesses the health, emotional stability, maturity and strength to carry out assigned duties.
· Ability to show sensitivity to the service populations’ cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
