Weave is Hiring an Intermittent SART Advocate Near Sacramento, CA

Are you passionate about combating sexual assault and gender based violence? Are you looking for a way to support survivors of sexual violence in our community? If the answer is yes, WEAVE may be the place for you!

Our Organization:

WEAVE, founded in 1978, is Sacramento’s primary provider of services supporting domestic and sexual violence survivors. The organization offers 24/7 support and response to sexual assaults, an emergency safehouse program, counseling, legal services, and much more to some of the most vulnerable members of Sacramento’s many communities. WEAVE has grown significantly in recent years, expanding services and capacity to meet community needs. With diverse programs and an organizational commitment to excellence, WEAVE is leading the way in service standards.

Our mission is to promote safe and healthy relationships and support survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and sex trafficking. Our vision is a community free of violence and abuse.

The Role:

Intermittent Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Advocates are a vital part of WEAVE's ability to provide trauma-informed responses on a 24/7 basis to victims and survivors of sexual assault in Sacramento County. Intermittent SART Advocates are dispatched to a medical clinic setting when a survivor is referred for a forensic medical exam following a sexual assault. Advocates offer the survivor accompaniment, emotional support and resources during and immediately following the exam, and are responsible for ensuring that full-time WEAVE staff receive appropriate information to follow up with the survivor after the exam.

This position is an intermittent position - it has no regularly scheduled hours. Advocates in this role provide their available times each month to respond to dispatches and are offered the opportunity to work as needed, based on requests for accompaniment. Time slots are available to cover all hours of the day, seven days per week. Advocates who accept a dispatch must be able to physically respond to the clinic location within 45 minutes of dispatch.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Our ideal candidate is an enthusiastic individual with prior experience or training in social services and a commitment to providing trauma informed responsive services to survivors. Advocates must be able to provide support and resources in a judgement-free way and must be able to interact positively with survivors from a wide range of backgrounds and communities.

Compensation:

The base pay for this position is $30 per hour for time spent responding to a dispatch. Holiday rates apply.

Please see the attached Intermittent SART Employment and Compensation Policy for specific details regarding job duties and eligibility requirements.

Reasons to Work for WEAVE:

Compensation & Flexibility: We offer competitive non-profit wages and this role offers flexibility for individuals seeking additional income opportunities or non-traditional work schedules.

Growth-Oriented: WEAVE encourages employees to constantly learn and grow their skills; we provide continuing education opportunities and social justice learning opportunities.

Collaborative & Inclusive Culture: We are committed to a diverse, inclusive, and accessible work environment where all staff and clients feel welcome; we celebrate our differences and actively seek out new perspectives from our staff to improve our programs and services. The successful candidate must be willing and able to work positively with other staff and clients with broad arrays of backgrounds and life experiences. All employees of WEAVE have a responsibility to always treat others with dignity and respect. All employees are expected to exhibit conduct that reflects inclusion during work, at work functions on or off the work site, and at all other organization-sponsored and participative events. All employees are also required to attend and complete annual diversity, equity and inclusion awareness training to enhance their knowledge to fulfill this responsibility.
