Young Life is Hiring a YoungLives Coordinator (Part Near Petoskey, MI

DescriptionYoung Life is on mission to recruit, equip, and train a team of volunteer leaders to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. The YoungLives coordinator is responsible for pursuing this mission in our area with teen parents.
ResponsibilitiesLeadership Development (50%) - “Equipping leaders” through recruiting, training, and sustaining a team of volunteer leaders and committee.
  • Meet with your volunteer leaders and area director on a regular basis.
  • Manage a YoungLives sub-committee to strengthen YoungLives in the community.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings.
  • Learn to recruit and train new leaders to build a leadership team that reflects the community.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping to other leaders.
  • Meet with regional YoungLives.
  • Collaborate with the area director to train volunteer leaders.
  • Complete Young Life Leadership and Core Training classes (one class each year).
Direct Ministry (30%) - “Proclaiming and modeling” the Gospel through contact work, club, Campaigners, and camp.
  • Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.
  • Lead a team to plan and conduct YoungLives club and discipleship ministry with excellence.
  • Lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy for YoungLives.
  • Develop strong relationships with other community members investing in teen parents (e.g., Pregnancy Care Center, Health Department, Char-Em school alternative schooling, etc.).
Resource Development (10%) - “Fueling the ministry” through Personal Donor Development, events, donor care, and public relations.
  • Raise a team of monthly and annual givers to support you and YoungLives.
  • Develop a plan to regularly thank and connect donors with the YoungLives ministry.
  • Participate in area fundraising and public relations events.
  • Lead camp trip fundraising efforts for YoungLives.
Spiritual Development (5%) - “Following Jesus” through prayer, spiritual disciplines, community, growth, health, and church relationships.
  • Lead by example as a healthy person, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and a sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines in the context of active participation in a church community.
  • Actively participate in the leader weekend, prayer, and spiritual formation of leaders.
Ministry Support (5%) - “Taking care of business” through accounting, administration, communication, data management, and strategic planning.
  • Accounting: Maintain accurate budgets and expense reports.

  • Practice good communication via email, phone, and text.
  • Know and use Google Drive, spreadsheets, social media (Facebook and Instagram), and Canva.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate information on teen parents, leaders, and donors.
  • Strategic Planning: With the area director, develop a strategic plan for YoungLives.
Qualifications
  • A mature commitment to Jesus and Christian faith as evidenced by life transformation and spiritual growth.
  • Belong to a local church.
  • Experience (volunteer or paid) with students.
  • Proven relational skills with both students and adults.
  • Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • College degree (preferred).
NotesThere are three part-time jobs available in our area. For the right candidate, a full-time role consisting of two part-time roles could be created.
