Dolores Street Community Services is Hiring a Grant Manager Near SF, CA

Position: Grant Manager

Department: Administration

Reports To: Director of Development and Government Contracts

Compensation: $32.05-$48.08 per hour. Part Time Hourly position (anticipated 3 days/week)Benefits include medical, flexible spending account, and commuter benefits if work more than 20 hours a week.

Founded in 1983, Dolores Street Community Services (DSCS) is a multi-issue, multi-strategy nonprofit organization, with an annual budget of $22 million, based in San Francisco's Mission District. Our mission is to nurture individual wellness and cultivate collective power among low-income and immigrant communities to create a more just society. We provide direct services to meet immediate needs, as well as affect broader change by engaging in advocacy and community organizing, working on a wide range of issues-from homelessness to housing to immigration to employment. We believe deeply that these issues are interconnected, and that solidarity and the linking of these issues is core to our work in our efforts to create a more just society.

Position Summary:

The Grant Manager is responsible for full cycle management of the grant award process, from prospecting to post-award management, with an emphasis on governmental contracts and grants. Working closely with the Director of Development and Government Grants and other program/administrative leaders, this role will be accountable for researching and gathering information on specific DSCS programs so as to be able to write proposals, program reports, and other relevant communications. As a member of the Development and Government Contracts team, the Grant Manager may also be asked to develop content for proposals or supporting materials for private philanthropy.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Primary responsibility for the pre- and post-award process for government grants and contracts;
  • Support in the writing of philanthropic materials, including proposals and program reports, and donor communications.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify institutional funding opportunities, with an emphasis on government grants and contracts.
  • Work closely with program leadership to identify funding needs and strategic opportunities for smart growth.
  • Conduct business in accordance with the DSCS Employee Handbook, exercising sound judgment and serving the best interests of the agency and the community.
  • Work within the framework of the agency's mission, vision, values, theory of change, and organization's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, restorative justice, trauma-informed work, and language justice.
  • Committed to treating each community member with respect and dignity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Two-three years experience in grants management in a non-profit environment with a focus on government grants and contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify and successfully apply for government contracts and grants.
  • Familiarity with government funding at the local, state and federal level. Experience with Bay Area local government funding preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred.
  • Experience with post-award compliance and reporting. Experience with program evaluation preferred.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, basic computer and research skills required.
  • Experience writing accurate, compelling proposals and narrative/manuals utilizing proper grammar and spelling is required. Experience preparing conference presentations preferred. Samples must be available upon request.
  • Proficient background in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) desirable but not required.
  • Background in and passion for working with low-income and immigrant communities on issues of social justice, including housing rights, immigrant rights, and/or worker rights, with familiarity with these issues in the Mission District and San Francisco.
