Turning Pointe Autism Foundation is Hiring a Part-Time Paraprofessional - Flexible Hours! Near Naperville, IL

Description

Turning Pointe Autism Foundation continues to grow and is seeking Intense Behavior Interventionists to work in our therapeutic day school. An IBI provides support to students in all areas of the school day, including academics, behavior support, communication, and life skills. The IBI will respectfully teach and assist students in completion of academic activities, community skills, life skills, safety skills, and behavior intervention plans.

Turning Pointe offers a comprehensive training program to prepare staff with best practice teaching methods to meet the learning needs of our students.

The Intense Behavior Interventionist will:

Implement all C.O.P.E.S. programming including assistive technology and communication, schedules and visuals, the positive behavior supports, emotional regulation (escalation tools, self-management and coping skills, de-escalation, physical management), and sensory activities.

Implement all Behavior Intervention Plans with each assigned student under the supervision of our BCBA.

Ensure students are actively engaged in programming throughout the day.

Communicate effectively with students to build rapport and increase social interactions.

Implement all self calming de-escalation cycles, identifying each indvidual escalation cycle, keeping data on the cycle and intervening at each stage representing the plan.

Monitor assigned student's progress including data tracking related to goals outlined within Individual Education Programs.

Take direction from and communicate effectively with teachers, lead interventionists, SLP, OT, and BCBA.

Participate in community outings and be willing to support students during swim program.

Attend staff meetings, trainings, and workshops to continue to understand all aspects of autsim spectrum disorder and effective best practice approaches.

Maintain confidentiality of student IEP's, parent information, and personal details.

IBI staff will implement toileting programs as needed.

Requirements

Required Skills: 

ISBE Paraprofessional or Substitute Educator License required 

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech-Language Pathology, Social Work, Education, or a related field is preferred. 

Experience working with middle school/high school, and/or transition age students impacted by autism.

Experience implementing behavior intervention plans.

Knowledge of applied behavior analysis.

A proven track record working as a team member in a therapeutic and/or educational environment.

Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced work environment and crisis situations.

Ability to understand and support individuals on the autism spectrum.
