Hours: (must live reasonable distance from location) Hybrid,M-F 9-5

Responsible for leading and managing the Platform Engineering team in the development of innovative solutions that achieve successful performance goals for the Information Services department. Responsibilities include managing a team of individuals through multiple projects while developing and maintaining project plans to ensure milestones and project deliverables are met. Develops detailed technical knowledge of systems and business processes and identifies targeted process improvement initiatives. Manages and coordinates the development of new functionality, testing and implementing scheduled vendor releases and system upgrades, and fixing system defects. Develops the change management procedures and protocols for the department; create and maintain all documentation for all assigned applications and hardware, and develops, plans and executes testing for supported applications and hardware. Communicates all necessary application/hardware changes, enhancements, and procedures to all necessary internal department teams.


Accountabilities

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the Platform Engineering Team including but not limited to employee mentoring, timecard retrieval, team meetings, and communicating operational requirements of UPHS to all team members.
  • Develops a detailed technical knowledge of end user devices and applications and business processes and identifies process improvement initiatives and targeted opportunities for improvements.
  • Develops new policies and procedures relating to system design, enhancements, change control, and maintenance of the applications and hardware systems.
  • Manages the delivery of complex workflow/system requirements in order to design, configure, test and implement end user device solutions
  • Defines system requirements, and develops logical data models using best practices for build and configuration, maintenance and data integrity.
  • Coordinates, creates and maintains all documentation for assigned applications and hardware systems in order to establish standards for configuration and enhancements within the applications and hardware systems
  • Develops and executes test plans that are comprehensive and inclusive of application/hardware functionality changes and/or enhancements to ensure successful outcomes
  • Manages the core team in system upgrades and scheduled vendor releases as requested to enhance the applications/hardware platforms and meet project objectives.
  • Develops departmental standards regarding change control to ensure accurate data tracking and monitors change process by maintaining current protocols and reporting any problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Manages cross-functional team members to determine and define specific analytical and technical systems information requirements, objectives and solution sets for the enhancements and configuration of the application.
  • Develops the education and delivery to internal team members, physicians, clinical and practice staff in the utilization of functionality within the UPHS end user device inventory.
  • Manages team members through the project management life cycle to ensure that overall progress and management of application project tasks are on track.
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.


Minimum Requirements

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field is required
  • 5 years of experience in Information Technology is required
  • Healthcare IT experience is preferred
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
