Job Description:


Starting annual salary $65,000 and commensurate with experience.

JOB SUMMARY

The Benefits and Compliance Specialist (BCS) is responsible for the coordination of all insurance and wellness benefits, leave management (workers compensation, FMLA, CTFMLA, CTPFMLA, ADA, pregnancy leave act, etc.), and other HR related benefit programs. Further, the BCS will oversee the various components of compliance adherence as it relates to staffing credentials and training.

This is a hybrid position.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages and tracks medical and non-medical leaves of absence, workers compensation claims, and OSHA reporting, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws/statutes and agency policies.
  • Maintains HR Compliance by monitoring staff credentialing and training as it relates to applicable positions. Conducts ongoing compliance checks; Including, but not limited to, licensure, privileging, NPDB, health certifications, OIG, PSL, fingerprints, workers compensation, OSHA, COVID 19 reporting, and health and safety.
  • Assists Director of Human Resources with annual benefits renewal and open enrollment processes, including plan and vendor evaluation, cost and utilization analyses, and data audit and reconciliation.
  • Assists Director of Human Resources with flu shots and wellness programs for all eligible staff with all insurance carriers, brokers and wellness representatives.
  • Manages benefits administration, including but not limited to benefits approvals, yearly ACA reconciliation, annual SAR communication, and may work with vendor on COBRA inquiries.
  • Responds to all employee inquiries regarding benefits and assist employees in resolving benefits problems
  • Develops effective relationships with colleagues in related functions (e.g., Finance/ Payroll) and representatives at various carriers and contractors to effectively resolve benefits problems.
  • Manages the tuition assistance, student loan repayment, public service loan forgiveness, and national health service corps/nurse corps loan repayment programs.
  • Maintains compliance with HR State and Federal labor laws, regulations, standards, and requirements. Ensures compliance with HIPAA, PI, and related requirements.
  • HR lead for HealthStream, training tracking and conducts HR trainings when necessary.
  • Leads ongoing program audits.
  • Assists Human Resources Business partner with employee recognition and the annual length of service awards.
  • Conducts and supports onboarding, as well as the new employees’ orientation program.
  • Maintains ongoing HRIS administration and personnel file maintenance.
  • Participates in committees and task forces, representing benefits and compliance (i.e., Safety Committee).
  • Cross-trained in all Human Resources job duties, provides back up support when needed.
Required Experience:


EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience in Human Resources required.
  • Additional HR training or certification is preferred (SHRM, HRCI).

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in Human Resources.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration, as well as HR State and Federal laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness.
  • Resourceful, problem-solving aptitude and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, HRIS and ATS systems, and comfortable learning new technical systems as required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and friendly demeanor focused on customer service.
  • High level of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, consistently meet deadlines.
