Job Description At Simmons Bank, the Qualitative Analyst II position will serve as a critical member of the Model Management unit. Model Management is one of six units that report through the Information Technology division to the Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer. The Model Management unit is responsible for conducting and/or providing oversight for three primary enterprise level functions: model development, model validation, and model risk management. The Qualitative Analyst will assist across all three lines of responsibility, but will be primarily involved with model risk management activities that involve various degrees of business process understanding. These activities will be performed in conjunction with individuals that possess strong quantitative mathematical and statistical skill sets. Line of Reporting The Qualitative Analyst II position will report directly to the Vice President, Model Risk Management. Primary Responsibilities Specific job duties will range across several initiatives that include but may not be limited to: Supplementing the quantitative model monitoring function with a sound understanding and perspective of business processes and the risks within those processes, Accepting externally prepared model validation reports and being able to coordinate and facilitate identified issues with the model owners and users, Providing risk-based recommendations for changes in model use or controls that surround model use, Leading the assessment of and reporting frequently on the quality of procedures and adherence to procedures for the development, implementation, use, and monitoring functions for forecasting models (banking product balances, income, expense, and loss projections) as well as operational models (decisioning, deviation identification, and scoring), Lead the design of the model back testing process, Lead the assessment and report frequently on the quality of the process for model assumption development, data integrity and governance, and model output significance and use. Educational Requirements The subject job requires the following educational experience at a minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Management, General Business, or Information Systems Required Related Work Experience The subject job requires that a candidate will have one of the following in minimum job-related experience: 2 years of safety and soundness regulatory examination experience, or 4 years of internal audit or consulting work related to preparation of key banking risk assessments for credit, interest rate, liquidity, price, operational, strategic, compliance, and reputation risk types. Required Skills and Competencies The subject job requires the following skills at a minimum: Knowledge and proficient use of Microsoft Office products, Advanced knowledge of regulatory risk categories and the interrelationships between each, Ability to work on a diverse set of high priority projects simultaneously, Strong written communication skills, Strong oral communication skills, including conversing with quantitative analysts, financial institution regulators, internal and external auditors.
