We are seeking a Centralized Collections Office (CCO) Specialist - Remote, to ensure medical collections for services provided are completed accurately, fully documented, and timely, from a remote-user setting. In this position, you will provide efficient medical insurance collections through excellent reimbursement practices while guaranteeing compliance with relevant laws, regulations and established Hanger policies and compliance programs. In this role, qualified candidates provide strict adherence to adjustment, refund, and write-off policies/procedures as outlined in Hanger Clinics Standard Operating Procedures.

Your Impact
    Drafting and submission of appeals and reconsiderations in a timely manner to ensure proper payment on outstanding insurance claims.
  • Diligent medical insurance claims follow-up and collections activity of pending and unpaid claims in a timely manner.
  • Manage and resolve rejection of medical claims in clearing house and payer portals.
  • Rebill and resubmission of medical insurance claims.
  • Reconcile denials and disputes as they pertain to the payment of outstanding insurance balances.
  • Address inquiries pertaining to assigned aging accounts.
  • Demonstrate ability to interpret and address CARC/RARCs
  • Analyze denials and EOBs to determine the appropriate emphasis needed and actions required.
  • Review account information prior to payer contact.
  • Identification and reporting of reimbursement trends.
  • Meet defined department goals and activity metrics.
  • Ensures confidential handling of financial information and adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2 years of Medical Collections & Office Administrative experience.
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver's license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Experience with EMR systems (NextGen and/or OnBase) preferred.
  • Ability to key 40 words per minute with accuracy preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, including the ability to follow written and verbal directions. While performing this position, working with a diverse population in a multicultural setting, there will be large amounts of communication including but not limited to clinicians, office representatives, other staff members (field associates, managers, directors) and/or business representatives.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks.
  • Ability to maintain acute attention to detail with the capability to structure and balance your day.
  • Working knowledge of state, federal, regional collection and reimbursement laws, HIPAA and other medical insurance regulations and terminology (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers, coding and documentation guidelines) for private payer, state and federal plans including coding, billing and reimbursement protocols.
  • Ability to work with physically challenged individuals.
  • Proficiency with basic math and accounting skills.
  • Act with integrity in all ways and at all times, remaining honest, transparent, and respectful in all relationships.
  • Understands contracts and payer specific guidelines to ensure timely follow-up of collectable AR.
  • Continuously innovate solutions, influencing and responding to change.
  • Focus on superior outcomes and calibrate work processes for outstanding results.
  • Previous NextGen experience preferred, but not required.

Pay range of $17.20 to $23.00 per hour annual bonus: up to 5% of base pay depending on bonus criteria. This pay range is posted to comply with wage transparency laws. Hanger salary ranges vary based on skill, ability, knowledge, geographic location and other variables.
