POSITION SUMMARY

The ARK of DC SUD Recovery Support Manager develops and documents care plans for individual patients, tracking processes, patient self-management support, implementation of clinical practice guidelines and work process/patient flow improvements.

Work closely with DC Department of Behavioral Health, The DC Clinical Director of Mental Health Services and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure the development of program policies and procedures which further the goals and objectives of the agency and the program. Attend to all state licensing guidelines and respond to requests for information as well as attend the DBH meetings for SUD Clinical Directors/CEOs.

Provide excellent customer service skills and assist staff to maintain a caseload of customers and ensure that they can effectively function within the community.

Assure documentation and record keeping is in compliance with contract, regulatory and agency requirements and best practices.

Develop and/or implement individualized consumer treatment or service plans and ensures compliance with applicable standards and agency policies.

Ability to coach patients who are recovering from addiction and/or patients who are just starting the recovery process. Demonstrate empathy, caring and concern to bolster consumer’s self-esteem and confidence. Have a clear understanding of the definition of addiction and the integration of various approaches to human behavior and addiction.

Reach out and build relationships and rapport with consumers, engaging them in recovery-based services. Share knowledge and information to assist consumers in completing phase work packets and other life skills applicable to long term recovery and independence. Offer conflict resolutions and other relatable skills necessary for day-to-day living with-in a community-based program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Assist with delivery of services which may include but is not limited to: crisis intervention, advocacy, medication monitoring, transportation assistance, financial assistance and referral and linkage to community resources. May visit, monitor consumers.

· Assist in preparing clinical reports utilizing agency electronic clinical documentation software.

· Effectively works as a team member, including participating in all required trainings, ensuring the safety of others and participating in Peer Review/CQI process.

· Ensure therapists provide high quality clinical care. Oversee diagnostic assessments, development of treatment plans, and continuous monitoring of quality service delivery. Ensure high quality clinical documentation and review and co-sign progress notes, treatment plans, and diagnostic assessments; serves as a member of an addiction services team serving adults with a history of addictions/substance abuse

· Provides recovery education and support to persons in recovery for substance use disorder

· Participates in outreach to community partners to help coordinate services with consumers.

· Provides resource, treatment and sober support information to individuals interested in recovery

· Assist in training of new Peer Recovery Support Specialists

· A genuine commitment to the support and health of individuals and families affected by substance use disorders. Understanding of and sensitivity to the challenges facing individuals and families affected by substance use disorders in a manner that is accepting and free of stigma.

· Relay consumer issues and concerns to clinical leadership. Enforce and uphold all company employee ethics, confidentiality requirements, rules, guidelines and expectations

· Ensure staff complete necessary steps for authorization based upon the insurance provider including DBH, Medicaid, Managed Care Organizations, private insurance, and any other insurance identified.

· Demonstrate cultural competency and support development of cultural competency in staff through appropriate trainings and other activities as needed

· Explain therapist’s role and responsibilities and consumer’s rights, including confidentiality and mandated reporting

· Engage families and significant others as needed to support treatment goal. Accept cultural diversity and integrate the family’s values and culture into services.

· Apply crisis management skills when necessary to stabilize consumers.

· Ensure that an environment is created, which is supportive, safe and appropriately structured for individuals seeking treatment and looking to enter recovery.

· Complete monthly reports as required by the contract with DBH as well as the agency and other stakeholders.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or Human Services and four years of experience in an alcohol or other drug or mental health setting preferred.
  • Combination of comparable skills, experience, and education.
  • Understanding and supportive of a trauma-informed system of care.
  • Strong interpersonal, engagement, organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Ability to support the organization’s mission and philosophy and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity and organizational harmony.

  • Self-directed and flexible with the ability to meet the needs of the program and the residents.
  • Experience and confidence identifying and implementing evidence-based practices
