The primary purpose of the Research Assistant position is to support, facilitate, and enhance the Add Health Wave VI Biology team.

The role demands active involvement in several key functions such as assisting with field examiner reporting, literature reviews, mailings, communications, and the creation of content such as newsletters.

The assistant will also be responsible for monitoring examiner raffles and administering examiner incentives as part of the Examiner Retention Supplement program.

Furthermore, the role includes facilitating effective communication between Add Health and field examiner teams, including tasks such as notetaking, meeting organization, and email campaign management.

Assisting with the entry of kit manifests from the lab and monitoring a verification Qualtrics survey to update FAQs, gather positive feedback, and identify trends in participant feedback are also vital parts of this position.

Additionally, the assistant will support graphic design needs for the Add Health team and will help maintain the Add Health Wave VI Home Exam role demands a considerable level of judgement, research skills, knowledge of data collection methods, information management systems, and excellent communication abilities.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience The position demands a robust understanding and working knowledge of research principles, methods, and procedures.

The Research Assistant should be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of overseeing multiple aspects of a project.

Research Knowledge : Proficiency in data and information collection is required, with the ability to observe, monitor, and record data / information.

An understanding of quality control methods and the capability to ensure their proper implementation is essential. The candidate must possess expertise in information and records administration.

This includes a thorough understanding of data / information collection methods and data / information management systems.

Communication Experience : This position requires excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey accurate information through various means.

This includes data / information collection, processing, dissemination, and reporting to PIs and other Add Health groups.

The candidate should be adept at creating presentations and communications such as newsletters and mailings.

Graphic Design and Technical Proficiency : This role requires strong experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop) and WordPress to create and maintain study-related communications, website, and graphics.

Strong experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Access) and experience with email communication services like MailChimp and Emma is beneficial to this position.

The candidate should be able to stay current with developments and trends in the area(s) of research. They should also be able to shift priorities to meet the needs of the study.

Educational Requirement : The Research Assistant position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

In summary, the ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with a strong background in research, technical knowledge of tools such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud, and proficiency in data management.

The role also values individuals with experience in graphic design and WordPress websites, especially in a research context.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are preferred, specifically with experience in preparing and presenting study-related information to diverse audiences.
