Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Academic Counselor to join our team. Our program aims to help high-achieving high school students to gain admission to and succeed at the nation’s top universities including Ivy Leagues. As an Academic Counselor, you will play a crucial role in supporting and guiding students throughout their academic journey. You will provide individual and group counseling, assist with course selection, and help students navigate any challenges they may face. Duties
- Provide academic counseling to students, including course selection, degree planning, and career guidance.
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address academic concerns and provide support. - work individually with each student to help identify best-fit colleges and how to conduct college research -Create competitive 4 year high school academic class plan for Admission to top 20 ranked universities -Provide guidance in career and major selection based on personality exam results
- Assist students in developing effective study skills and time management strategies.
- Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. -Assist students in planning summer academic endeavors -Schedule all academic testing including PSAT, SAT, and AP Exam
- Assist students with leadership roles and extra-curricular activities
- Stay up-to-date on educational policies, programs, and resources.
- Track student progress and assigned tasks
Requirements
- Master’s degree in school counseling, school psychology, gifted education, or other education-related field -Minimum 8-10 years high school college counseling experience
- Proven experience working with students in an academic setting.
- Experience in public speaking and delivering presentations. -Deep knowledge of top-tier and highly competitive public, private and liberal arts schools across the country; includes first-hand knowledge of the campus, school culture, program strengths, student resources and application process
- Versed with student College Admission criteria such as the A-G system -Admission GPA calculations for Private and Public Universities -Demonstrated ability to provide personalized and strategic college admissions counseling to high-achieving students
- Demonstrated cultural awareness and competency -Deep industry knowledge of admissions consulting and the Top university landscape
- Ability to conduct interviews and analyze student needs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for building relationships with students, faculty, and staff. - Prior working experience in undergraduate admissions for a top 20 ranked university
