*Key Responsibilities:*
* Promotes dental health through prophylaxis, cancer screening, and radiographic studies.
* Charts decay and disease conditions and complies with Dental Practice Act.
* Prepares treatment room according to protocols and procedures.
* Welcomes, soothes, seats, and drapes patients for dental hygiene treatment.
* Answers questions and requests from patients and employees.
* Maintains dental instruments through sharpening, sterilizing, and selection.
* Evaluates patient's oral health to select materials and equipment for hygiene visit.
* Cleans deposits and stains from teeth and below gum margins during prophylaxis.
* Detects disease through oral cancer screening and examination of gums.
* Helps dentists during emergencies with CPR certification, emergency drugs, and oxygen supply.
* Educates patients on oral hygiene and provides postoperative instructions, reminders for next visit.
* Documents vital signs, medical and dental histories in patient records.
* Maintains confidentiality and creates a safe and clean working environment.
* Adheres to infection-control policies and protects patients and employees.
* Manages dental supplies inventory and conserves resources.
* Uses equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job.
*Required Qualifications:*
* Active IN Hygiene License
