Reports To: TSTS or COMMAND LEAD ARMORER Location: Oakridge, TN Status: PART TIME FLSA Classification: NONEXEMPT POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the Senior Armorer and Lead Armorer in the overall operation of the Armory and/or a mobile armory when deployed for training. Responsible for the general maintenance and repair, issue and return, storage and security, and inventory of all weaponry and related equipment. Serve as Armory Representative in off-site deployments. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist the Senior Armorer and Lead Armorer in the overall operation of the Armory by following established procedures for the general maintenance and repair, issue and return, storage and security, and inventory of all weaponry, and related equipment. 2. Maintain accurate inventory of all weapons, related equipment, and assist with munitions using approved OST property systems. 3. Issue and receive all weapons and related equipment and maintains strict accountability. 4. Ensure all weapons and related equipment are clean, safe, functional, and in good repair. 5. Comply with all weapons safety requirements. 6. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance performed and parts replaced on all firearms. 7. Assist munitions and logistics specialist as required with all aspects of munitions/logistics management. 8. Analyze consumption rates and trends and establishes stock levels for firearm related items to support training and exercise events. 9. Maintain a valid state driver licensing and operate assigned OST government vehicles to effect the safe and timely movement of vehicles and/or equipment necessary to support ITP-OST contract requirements. 10. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by studying/reviewing all relevant laws, regulations, orders, and policies; attending educational workshops; reviewing professional and technical publications; establishing and maintaining professional liaisons/networks with subject-matter experts; and participating in professional associations/affiliations. 11. Ensure that integrated safety management principles are applied to all duties. Perform training and other activities and tasks in a safe and healthful manner. 12. In accordance to training requests, armory activities, and training schedules, prepare all armory supplies for use in deployed training events. Coordination will be made with The OST Senior Armorer, the TSTS Lead Armorer, training staff, logistics staff, munitions staff, and security personnel. If deploying with an LST, all alarm testing and security requirements will be coordinated. 13. Serve customers (external and internal) by focusing on quality as it relates to the customer; anticipating/understanding customer needs and expectations; responding expeditiously to customers’ questions, requests, and concerns; and satisfying customer needs and expectations. 14. Contribute to team effort by focusing on ITP-OST mission, goals, and objectives; accomplishing tasks and assignments in a professional and timely manner; keeping appropriate members informed regarding the status of tasks and assignments; establishing and maintaining professional working relationships; working amicably, cooperatively, and productively with team members; assisting others as needed and accomplishing other duties/tasks as assigned/directed or as necessity dictates. 15. When approved by the Program Manager, provide support to offsite and local training activities to include supporting roadblocks and serving as an exercise role-player. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience, and Qualification 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. A minimum of 2 years Armorer experience or Gunsmith degree. 3. Factory, military certification, or OJT on appropriate firearms. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1. Ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate DOE security clearance. 2. Ability to obtain and maintain DOE certification under the Human Reliability Program (HRP). 3. Ability to obtain DOE-NNSA certification as a DOE Armorer. 4. Ability to lift 75 pounds. 6. Ability to obtain licenses and certifications to operate government motor vehicles in the support of OST program requirements. 7. Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate documentation required for an ITP Driver Qualification File. 8. A working knowledge of PC’s and related MS programs and office equipment. 9. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to plan and interact with other personnel. 10. Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate the training schedule. 11. Ability to travel for training and other ITP-OST business. Working Conditions Work is normally performed in an office, workshop, or classroom setting. Occasionally, work is performed outdoors on a range or in support of a training exercise. Worker may be exposed to dust, fumes, loud noises and the environment. Physical Demands Work requires manual dexterity to assemble, disassemble, clean, and repair weapons. Work normally involves sitting while indoor. Outside work involves standing, walking, and kneeling. Work involves lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
