Cranes Spanish Kaiseki is Hiring a General Manager Near Washington, DC

Be part of the adventure! Cranes is seeking a talented, highly motivated General Manager! Team up with Chef Pepe Moncayo in this unique opportunity as he introduces Washington D.C. to Spanish Kaiseki cuisine.

Located just a short walk from the Metro (Gallery Pl/Chinatown) and Capital One Arena, our 12,000-square-foot restaurant is the first venture in the U.S. and certainly not our last.

We are looking to create a team that wants to invest in us as much as we want to invest in you. We are creating limitless opportunities for career growth as well as advancement from within.

Chef Moncayo is a world-renowned chef embedded in Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. The intersection of Spanish and Japanese cuisine that Chef Moncayo has brought to DC, while rare and unique, is a natural cultural and culinary marriage. As well, he is considered one of the world’s go-to experts on pairing food with sake.

Apply to be part of our team if you are hard-working, with a desire to excel, and value a great working environment as well as a shared commitment to hospitality and guest service.

We seek outstanding people who share our mission to provide a unique and extraordinary dining experience to each guest.

As the General Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations and ensuring the exceptional guest experience that our establishment is known for. You will uphold our standards of excellence, drive operational efficiency, and contribute to the overall success of the restaurant.

Responsibilities:

  1. Guest Experience Enhancement:

  2. Staff Management:

    • Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of the front-of-house team, including servers, hosts, and bartenders.
    • Supervise and motivate staff to deliver outstanding service and uphold the highest levels of professionalism.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  3. Operational Excellence:

    • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures that align with the restaurant's goals and objectives.
    • Oversee daily operations to ensure smooth service flow, quality control, and adherence to safety and sanitation standards.
    • Manage reservations, seating arrangements, and special events to optimize guest flow and maximize revenue.
  4. Financial Management:

    • Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets, revenue goals, and cost-control measures to achieve financial targets.
    • Monitor inventory levels, track expenses, and implement strategies to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
    • Analyze financial reports and implement adjustments to optimize financial performance.
  5. Relationship Building:

    • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with guests, suppliers, and vendors to enhance the restaurant's reputation and service offerings.
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional initiatives and special events to attract new customers and drive repeat business.
    • Network and engage with industry professionals to stay updated on trends and identify potential partnerships or collaborations.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a managerial role within a high-end restaurant
  • Exceptional knowledge of food, wine, and beverage pairings, with a passion for delivering an elevated dining experience.
  • Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to interact confidently with guests, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in financial management, including budgeting, cost control, and revenue optimization.
  • In-depth understanding of restaurant operations, including reservations systems, POS software, and health and safety regulations.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
