Position Summary:
The Library Security Supervisor for the Indianapolis Public Library will support the goal of excellent customer service by performing and supervising safety and security responsibilities. The supervisor will be responsible for building security, including secure points of entry, exits, interior areas, parking garage, and the exterior of the library. The supervisor will establish goals and priorities of the department, and plan, schedule, coordinate, and assign work. The supervisor will respond to calls for emergencies and attempt to prevent theft, property destruction or vandalism, and in addition will assist with investigations related to theft, injury, or accident and comply with all investigating state or federal agencies. Other responsibilities include ensuring patron and staff compliance with general safety/security rules and regulations and adherence to the Behavioral Policy set forth by IndyPL and to manage and report accidents and incidents that occur on library property. This position functions as part of a department or branch public services team to provide high quality and equitable internal and external customer service.
