Job Summary: We are seeking experienced Metal Straighteners to join our team. As a Metal Straightener, you will qualify the less complex, complicated castings, under available supervision, including units typically other than samples and prototypes consistent with established and accepted standards of quality and quantity. Machine Operator will interpret client specifications, enter them into the CNC Machine, set up the machine and monitor it as it operates.

Essential Job Function:

• Position and straighten castings using hand or power tools, including visual and dimensional inspection, gages, shear, punch, crimp, notch, bend and reference to travelers and/or work instructions to ensure conformance with provided specifications.
• Organize castings, fixtures, gauges, materials, documentation, and hand/power tools necessary to complete assigned jobs and checks all documentation (travelers, special instructions, etc.) to help ensure the best possible results.
• Set up and operate power presses or special equipment in the positioning, adjusting, and alignment of castings.
• Perform qualifying operation on castings as required, by aligning them within tolerance of qualifying/target fixture.
• Performs combination straighten and qualify operation on castings and determines when each is applicable. (Whether to straighten or qualify.)
• Use run machines that precisely cut metal to shape. Stamp, press, operate, weld, form, draw, trim, blanking and piercing cuts. (Open to train and continue the right candidate growth, as long as he/she has some minimal schooling and/or working exp.).
• After the castings have been through the solution anneal cycle, the castings are soft enough to be straightened. Straightening is required to remove any distortion in the castings caused by the quenching process, or other causes in the process. There are two methods of straightening used, hand straightening and compression straightening.
• Scribe casting dimension lines on casting as may be required using scribing fixture.
• Inspect completed work and perform rework or additional adjustments as required to ensure compliance with established specifications.
• Acquire additional certifications and credentials as required for work or career development.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Comply with all safety, DOT, HAZMAT and environmental policies and procedures.
• Ability to work overtime and participate in special projects as needed or assigned by Management.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma and/or Equivalent.
• 1 years exp. as a straightener.
• Proficiency in using hand tools for metal straightening purposes.
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.
• Ability to assemble and disassemble metal components as required.
• Experience operating CNC machines, lathes, stamping presses, and electrical discharge machining equipment.
• Basic programming skills for CNC machines is a plus.

Hourly Pay: $18.00 - $20.00/hr. - &* - (yearly reviews). Hours:* 4am to 12:30pm (Mon-Fri.) with OT once trained or performing at 50% productivity. ITAR Required: US Citizen and/or Permanent Resident Card Holder. Screenings: Must pass a Drug and Background check before starting employment.
