Concrete Placing Company (CPC) is a full-service heavy-civil contractor, specializing in building highways, airfields, streets, and local roads. We have been in business for over 60 years, CPC’s primary market areas include the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain regions of the United States.

Full job description:

This position is responsible for the direct supervision of our CDL Drivers to include compliance with DOT regulations, company policy, employee performance and retention, and efficient movement of our company equipment and products. This position is on-site with the employees and requires daily interaction with employees and management.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to build and maintain a dedicated team through effective communications, recruiting, training, coaching, counseling, appraising and rewarding. Carry out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Manage drivers’ performance and activities. Direct and schedule driver's work. Plan, assign, and distribute work to avoid hours of service violations while coordinating loads, equipment and backhauls to achieve maximum utilization of the fleet.
  • Manage work assignments. Develop daily delivery plan utilizing equipment, workforce, and other resources to ensure an effective, efficient operation.
  • Identify and resolve delivery and scheduling problems through timely communication with Equipment Manager and on-site Management.
  • Perform additional administrative functions to include daily timecards and logs, driver counseling and post-accident reviews. Ensure all required operational data is accurately captured in a near real-time manner.
  • Ensure compliance with D.O.T., OSHA, and all federal and state regulations, as well as company rules and policies. Monitor, train, and promote safety in all areas of dispatch.

Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: 3-5 years of recent leadership experience in transportation or similar industry/work environment; supervising and leading a transportation team of drivers.

  • Demonstrated experience leading, directing, communicating change, and developing a team strongly desired.
  • Experience conducting business using multiple software systems and processes.
  • Strong skill base and comfort with technology including Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and routing or dispatching systems.

Candidate must be able and willing to work on remote projects under very rigorous conditions – long hours and 6 to 7 days a week at times. Excellent communication skills are required and an ability to focus on tasks at hand, be a self-motivator, and to work well with others. An above industry base hourly wage will be established with specific experience and qualifications.

This is outside work in all types of environments, weather conditions, and all seasons. Due to the nature of the position, regular and timely attendance is essential and must conform to the company's hours of operation. Construction background required, prefer paving or heavy/highway construction experience. Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
