POSITION: Graphic Designer
CLASSIFICATION: Seasonal
STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Marketing & Communications Coordinator
SUPERVISES: N/A
LOCATION: In-person
COMPENSATION: $1,000/week
HIRING TIMELINE: Applications to be accepted until position is filled with a priority application
deadline of March 20. Application review and interviews to be conducted starting March 25, with an anticipated start date of June 5 and end date of August 17. There is an opportunity to begin part-time work starting May 1 if the candidate is willing and able.
Job Summary
The Williamstown Theatre Festival is seeking an experienced graphic designer to join our Marketing & Communications team for the 2024 season.
The Graphic Designer will be responsible for the design and production of online content and print projects for Williamstown Theatre Festival to use throughout the season. This includes but is not limited to, print and digital media such as signage, flyers, posters, social media graphics, email newsletters, and website graphics. The Graphic Designer will work closely with the Marketing & Communications team to develop and implement creative solutions that effectively promote the Festival and its events.
The ideal candidate for this role is a highly creative and skilled graphic designer with a passion for the arts. They should have a strong understanding of design principles and be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to deliver high-quality work on tight deadlines. They should also possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, and be able to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Primary Responsibilities and Expectations
The Graphic Designer reports directly to the year-round Marketing & Communications Coordinator. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Overseeing the production and design of the season/show programs, comprehensive publications produced throughout the summer that include advertisements, editorial content, donor lists, production information, and institutional information
  • Working with the Marketing & Communications Coordinator to design and create posters, print ads, e-blasts, event invitations, postcards, web/video graphics, and more
  • Collaborating with the Marketing & Communications team to understand project objectives and deliverables
  • Creating visually appealing and effective designs that accurately reflect the Festival's brand and messaging
  • Managing tight print production deadlines and timely information collection
  • Creating front-of-house signage
  • Diligent archiving of all season design content in collaboration with other members of the Marketing & Communications team
  • Collaborating with members of the Marketing & Communications team in the development of Festival content for all media channels
  • Producing work that is innovative, imaginative, original, and creative in character
  • Collaborating with the Marketing & Communications team to ensure that all materials are delivered on time
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Adhering to all Festival safety protocols
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency and competence in graphic design, preferably in the entertainment or arts industry
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design skills and styles
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite, specifically in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and AfterEffects. Ability to use Premiere is a plus, but not necessary.
  • Proficiency across all of Google Suite.
  • Familiarity with email designing software such as MailChimp is a plus.
  • Familiarity with basic web design software such as WordPress is a plus.
  • Familiarity with social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, etc.) is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Passion for the performing arts and a desire to contribute to the success of the Williamstown Theatre Festival
