As a Suites Barback in the Idaho Central Arena, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the smooth operation of the bar. Your primary responsibility is to assist bartenders and ensure that the bar area remains well-stocked, organized, and clean. The specific duties and responsibilities of a bar back can vary depending on the business needs or event but will generally include the following:

Job Summary:

  • Ensure that the bar is well-stocked with all necessary supplies, including alcohol, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and utensils.
  • Restock and organize the bar as needed to maintain a smooth workflow.
  • Replace empty kegs and bottles promptly to minimize disruption during service.
  • Keep the bar area clean and sanitized, including wiping down counters, bar equipment, and glassware.
  • Empty and replace trash and recycling bins.
  • Clean up spills and broken glass promptly to prevent accidents.
  • Set up and break down the bar area before and after service, ensuring all supplies are in their proper places.
  • Pre-cut fruit, prepare garnishes, and assist in the preparation of specialty cocktails or drinks as required.
  • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the back bar area.
  • Assist bartenders in serving customers by fetching and carrying orders, helping with glassware, and offering excellent customer service.
  • Be attentive to customers' needs and communicate any special requests to the bartenders.
  • Move and store kegs, cases of alcohol, and other supplies as needed, ensuring they are stored safely and securely.
  • Keep track of inventory and notify the bartender and manager when certain items need to be restocked.
  • During busy shifts or special events, bar backs may be required to help with various tasks, such as taking drink orders, running drinks to tables, or assisting with crowd control.
  • Collaborate closely with bartenders, waitstaff, and other bar personnel to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to address any issues or needs.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work Wednesday, Friday, & Saturdays (start time varies – between 3 PM – 5 PM).
  • Must be TIPS certified.
  • Previous bar experience is preferred, but not required. 
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Alcohol awareness.
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain full knowledge of the drink menu.
  • Setup/tear down of bar before and after each event.
  • Prior to each event ensure the bar is fully stocked as needed.
  • Ability to set up/move portable keg units.
  • 1 hour of bar closing/cleaning duties after each event.
