Summary:

The Gradall Operator is responsible for excavating, moving, and grading dirt while safely operating the equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Able to properly utilize equipment to accomplish tasks involving grade, slope, yield, etc. as needed,
  • Able to safely maneuver machinery in tight quarters, around people, traffic and utilities,
  • Adjusts hand levers and depresses pedals to operate equipment and control attachments such as blades, buckets, and swing booms,
  • Performs equipment maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing and oiling machines,
  • Understand construction blue prints and fine grade work,
  • Excavate, lift, and move materials with precision and efficiency,
  • Fine grade ditches, sidewalks, curb & gutter, and other tight construction areas,
  • Complete minor repairs, if necessary,
  • Must wear proper attire at all times including: safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image,
  • May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Three to five years plus experience operating heavy equipment, including Gradall.
  • Must possess a Class A CDL with proper endorsements,
  • Must have physical strength to operate heavy and power-driven equipment,
  • Manage emergency situations, work pressure and stress,
  • Ability to complete work projects on time and in an effective manner,
  • Able to read and understand grade stakes, automated machine control cab displays, etc.,
  • High school diploma or GED desired,
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time,
  • COVID-19, vaccination is highly recommended, 
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening

 Working Conditions:

  • This job may require you to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces, as well as working in confined areas.
  • This job requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (glasses, contacts).
  • This job requires the ability to perform essential job tasks in less than favorable job conditions. These may include, but are not limited to: Performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
