Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts seeks a Graphic Designer responsible for developing and executing graphic design that strengthens Wolf Trap Foundation’s communications and marketing through the use of strong images, graphics, and layout in digital and print collateral. Graphic Designer will assist the creative team in developing strategic creative campaigns for the Foundation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Layout, Design, and Production of Foundation Marketing and Communications Collateral: Design print advertising, brochures, newsletters, program books, invitations, signage, and other collateral. Develop digital marketing advertisements. Works collaboratively with Communications and Marketing team and across departments.
• Project Management: Meet with project leads to determine scope of project. Advise project lead on strategies to reach audience/communicate message. Develop production schedule. Incorporate recommended changes into final design. Review design before printing. Review and work with printers on electronic and in-person press checks.
• Coordination: Coordinate with print and mail vendors and external designers in production of online and print media campaigns and other projects. Work with the Assistant, Communications and Marketing to develop the production schedule and routing plan, proofing, and approvals.
• Represent the Foundation and Communications and Marketing Department at onsite and offsite meetings and events as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• B.A. in graphic design or related field
• 2 - 5 years professional experience

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Stellar print and digital design skills
• Proven proficiency of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign
• Experience with HTML5, After Effects, and working knowledge of MS Office
• Ability to create animated banners, design layout and templates for maximum usability and focus on user experience
• Hands-on designer who can move from clearly defined and thoughtful concepts to design and delivery
• Knowledge of prepress and experience working with printers
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Must work well independently, as well as on a team
• Must be able to multitask between small and large-scale projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented atmosphere
• Sensitivity and commitment to the mission of Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time
• Regularly operates a computer and other office equipment (i.e. calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.)
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, bend and reach with arms
  • Lift/move up to 25 pounds infrequently

We’re pleased to consider applicants who will physically live in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia if hired. The Foundation does not offer fully remote work for any full-time, seasonal, or variable positions. Applicants who reside in any other state are required to relocate to Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia prior to starting work for Wolf Trap Foundation.
