About the position
The WaTech Finance group provides financial management services to all managers and staff within the agency. These services include rate setting, business analysis, accounting, budgeting, fiscal data, and information development. The staff in the Finance group also works collaboratively with each other in the areas of budgeting, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.
As a Fiscal Cashier, you will be relied on to post daily cash receipts for the agency. You will provide support to the Accounting Team by pulling financial data, filing, data entry, and communicating to our customer.

Duties

Some of what to expect with this role:

  • Process daily cash receipts including checks, Automated Clearing House (ACH)/wire transfers, and inter-agency payments (IAP's) accurately and timely.
  • Verify receipts, make bank deposits, enter the data in Computron and/or Electronic Voucher Form (EVF), and process cash receipt journal summary (A8's) in Treasury Management System (TMS).
  • File daily receipt and Journal Voucher (JV) documents.
  • Open mail from accounts receivable mailbox and assist in preparing daily cash lists of warrants/checks, received when needed.
  • Serve as the primary contact for agency cash receipt related questions.
  • Contact customers to resolve any payment discrepancies and prepare JV’s as appropriate for overpayments.
  • Audit remittance advices from previous days payable processing to ensure accuracy.
  • Scan documents into the imaging system for records retention.
  • File accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll documents.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of accounting/bookkeeping experience. Higher education in an accounting field may substitute for the required experience.
Preference may be granted to applicants with the following:
  • One year of fiscal experience in a local or state government finance office.
Telework:
This position is approved for teleworking. However, it has a twice a week onsite requirement to check the mail and process the checks that were received.
