About the position
The Enterprise Cloud Computing (ECC) team is within WaTech’s Architecture & Innovation Division, and provides leadership, governance, and resources to accelerate the strategic adoption of cloud technologies across state government. The overall mission of this unit is to enable efforts to modernize and migrate the state's information technology toward cloud services to allow the state to provide Washingtonians the services they require.
As the Cloud Vendor/Brokerage Specialist, you will design, implement, and manage the business operation for the Cloud Service Brokerage (CSB) function for the state. In this role, you will be a part of the ECC unit, which leads and oversees cloud strategy.

Duties

Some of what to expect with this role:

  • Prioritize collected CSB business requirements from agencies and stakeholders.
  • Design, deploy and operate the one stop CSB marketplace as product owner to help agencies find, buy, provision, and manage cloud services.
  • Manage the continuous operations of CSB, ensuring the content remains current, operational processes are managed effectively, and responses to inquiries from customers and stakeholders are both prompt and informed.
  • Define, review, publish, and maintain the cloud service catalog, collaborate with internal stakeholders and external cloud service providers.
  • Research, recommend and implement cloud service contract optimization for the state, leveraging collective buying power to drive cost effectiveness and cloud adoption.
  • Conduct regular vendor business reviews, including contract, financial, service level and other related KPIs.
  • Provide agencies with the tools and support they need for cloud business operations, including evaluating their solution portfolio, determining cloud readiness, and analyzing financial implications.
  • Foster a collaborative, engaging environment across the enterprise to accelerate cloud adoption and optimize cloud solutions.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
  • 11 or more years of combined business operations, program management, product management or vendor management experience in the technology related industry, with progressively higher level of responsibilities and capabilities.
  • The required experience must also include the following:
    • Three or more years of professional experience working with cloud solutions and/or managing cloud vendors in large scale settings. Experience should include IT service procurement, contract, and agreements.
    • Three or more years of experience in vendor management, including deliverables expectations, scope/schedule/budget management, contract management, and performance management.
* A bachelor’s degree in technology management, business administration, or finance from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to four years of the total required experience. *
Preference shall be given to those who possess the following certification(s):
  • Five or more years’ experience managing complex global IT contracts and relationships, with experience in negotiating technology agreements for software, cloud, hosting and professional services.
  • Business operation experiences of enterprise level multiple cloud solutions, involving public cloud service providers such as Azure, AWS and Google; private cloud, hybrid cloud and SaaS providers.
  • Previous experience involving in enterprise-wide cloud migration projects, including collaborating with multiple business units, and managing cloud solutions providers.
