Program and Position Summary:

The CBHI Supervisor oversees a combination of In-Home Therapy (IHT) and Therapeutic Mentoring (TM) providers, providing weekly individual supervision, document reviews/edits, initial training and ongoing coaching for skill development, and all other tasks as needed to support the providers in effectively delivering services to youth and families.

The Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI) is an initiative designed to meet the needs of Massachusetts youth ages 0-21 who have serious emotional disturbance (SED) and their families. CBHI’s mission is “to strengthen, expand and integrate Massachusetts state services into a comprehensive, community-based system of care to ensure that families and their children with significant behavioral, emotional and mental health needs obtain the services necessary for success in home, school and community.” CBHI includes several programs, all working towards the same mission. In-Home Therapy and Therapeutic Mentoring are two of these programs.

In-Home Therapy (IHT) is a service comprised of a Clinician and a Therapeutic Training and Support Worker (TT&S) that, together, work with the family in their home to address the emotional and behavioral health needs of the youth. The IHT team works to implement interventions and strategies that address youth behavioral and emotional needs, family communication, family relationships/dynamics, parenting strategies, safety planning, and ongoing work towards the identified treatment planning goals, among other needs. The IHT team utilizes a strengths-based, family-driven approach with an emphasis on building a community and natural support system for the youth and family in order to promote sustainability of treatment gains.

The Therapeutic Mentoring (TM) program is a service provided to youth in their home and in other community settings such as school, after school programs, or other community-based environments. TM services include supporting, coaching, modeling, and teaching age-appropriate behaviors, communication, social, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills, as well as relating appropriately to other youth and adults. The work of the TM is designed to complement and build upon the work being done with the youth by the hub provider (Individual OP Therapy, In Home Therapy, or Intensive Care Coordination).

The CBHI Supervisor:

  • Provides clinical and administrative oversight to a team of IHT and TM providers
  • Reviews and provides feedback on all work including, but not limited to sessions, care coordination, documentation, billable activities, and collaboration.
  • Provides initial training and orientation to new CBHI providers
