HMT Engineering & Surveying is Hiring a Bookkeeper Near San Antonio, TX

The Full-Charge Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the company by accurately recording the day-to-day financial transactions of the company; including, but not limited to accounts receivable and payable, payroll, and other daily functions of a bookkeeper. Will correspond and work closely with outside CPA; as needed.

  • Correspond with outside CPA as needed
  • Process accounts payable which includes the review, code, and process payment of vendor invoices through Ajera software, collect monthly data regarding credit card charges and match them to statements, and maintain accounts payable files.
  • Process accounts receivable which includes the review of client invoices for accuracy and expenses paid on their behalf, enter customer payments and bank deposits into the Ajera software, collect on outstanding invoices, and maintain the accounts receivable files.
  • Process payroll into the Ajera system and work closely with outside Payroll Company.
  • Responsible for the preparation of audit work papers for year-end audits with outside auditors; Working closely with department staff, orchestrating all audit activity.
  • Oversees all financial, project, and In-kind accounting.
  • Monthly close process for assigned entity to include G/L maintenance, reconciliations, and preparation of financial reports.
  • Take an active role in improving operating performance to achieve overall profitability goals.
  • Communicate financial targets, metrics, and results to principals, ensuring employees work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure annual budget line items are adhered to and the budget is revised as appropriate.
  • Set up processes to manage employee expense reports, petty cash accounts, and general expenses.
  • Assist with various other projects as assigned by senior management.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and other accounting programs; Ajera software is a plus.
  • Self-starter and detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to working with a diverse staff are essential to carry out the duties of this position successfully.
  • Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve objectives.
  • Skill in evaluating operations as they relate to policies, goals and objectives, costs, and rate levels.
  • Skill in identifying and resolving accounting and financial problems.
