Duties for This Position
As a medical coding specialist you will review patient medical records and assign designated codes to diagnoses and procedures performed so the facility can accurately bill insurance, other third-party payers, and the patient. Ensures that assigned codes meet required legal standards and established insurance rules and that all required signatures and authorizations are in place prior to submission. Requires working knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10, attention to detail, computer capabilities, and strong communication skills.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
Graduation from accredited School Medical Coding
AACP Certification
Experience
One year clerical experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Required Skills
Attention to detail. Excellent computer skills required. Typing and ten key capabilities.

A cadre of specialists visit the facility on a monthly basis. The hospital serves a population of approximately 40,000 residents spread across Juab, Servier, Sanpete, Millard and Utah Counties. Due to its location near the convergence of three major highway systems (I-15, Highway 89 and SR 28), the facility serves many travelers and visitors recreating in nearby outdoor attractions.
