Calamigos Guest Ranch and Beach Club is the only luxury destination in Malibu that encompasses a private 250-acre ranch in the Malibu Wine Country, exclusive beachfront Beach Club located off PCH and Private Members Club. Our staff is dedicated to providing exceptional service to guests and members while creating memorable experiences for all.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for an Assistant General Manager at The Ranch Club, one of the dining facility at Calamigos Guest Ranch and Beach Club. The Ranch Club Assistant General Manager will be responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction, providing excellent customer service, hiring and training staff, and maintaining effective communication within the Ranch Club as well as across other departments and outlets. The role will involve overseeing food and beverage operations of the restaurant, managing inventory, and ensuring high-quality service to our guests and members.

Role Responsibilities

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Hire, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach, and discipline all employees in the Hotel’s outlet to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met; daily activities and planning for outlet operation.
  • The ability to be visible in the operation, provide recognition, promote good public relations, and handle complaints, concerns or special requests for guests, clients, and group contacts.
  • Describe and ensure quality of all food items, ingredients, and preparation methods, as well as provide expert knowledge of wine and spirits in an elegantly appointed environment dedicated to an attentive and distinctive experience for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
  • Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory.
  • Attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments.
  • Observe physical condition of facilities and equipment in the outlet and make recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed.

Skills and Qualifications

Ideal candidate will have:

  • 3 years previous experience in Assistant General Manager (AGM) role or equivalent
  • Ability to operate food and beverage computer equipment including Toast and Opera
  • Customer satisfaction and customer service skills
  • Experience in hiring and training staff
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of food and beverage operations, cost control, labor control, maintenance, and accounting
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Commitment and passion for food and beverage and hospitality sectors
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field is preferred
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work all shifts including weekends, nights and holidays
