Job Title: Dietary Cook - Adult Residential Facility 

Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as Dietary Cook. This role is responsible for preparing nutritious meals for our residents. Key duties include menu planning, meal preparation, quality control, and maintaining a clean kitchen. Compassion, adaptability, and attention to dietary needs are essential. Interact and communicate with residents, in a friendly, courteous, positive, and respectful manner. The Dietary Cook prepares food daily, including cooking various dishes, meats, deserts, salads, etc.

Duties:

1. Assist in developing menus based on preferences of the residents. Ensure variety and balance in menu offerings.

2. Prepare nutritious and flavorful lunches for residents. Must adhere to portion sizes and presentation standards.

3. Accommodate special dietary requirements (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic-friendly), per physician orders.

4. Keep the kitchen and workstation clean and organized. Regularly sanitize cutting boards, countertops, and kitchen tools.

5. Follow federal and state health department standards for food safety and hygiene.

6. Properly store, handle, and prepare food items.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be dependable.
  • Obtain food handlers card.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass background check per Federal and State requirements as mandated by Community Care Licensing.
  • Must pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening.
  • Understand how to minimize food wastage.
  • Prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures and assure that quality food service is provided at all times.
  • Review menus prior to preparation of food.
  • Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident.
  • Coordinate dietary service with other departments as necessary.
  • Work with the facility administrator and implement recommended changes as required.
  • Ensure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
  • Assist in establishing food service production lines, etc. to assure that meals are prepared on time.
  • Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus ensuring and appetizing in appearance.
  • Assist in serving meals as necessary and on a timely basis.
  • Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Perform dishwashing/cleaning procedures. Assure that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to follow certain food requirements that are flexible to residents' diets
  • One year of dietary experience in a hospital, residential setting or other related medical facility preferred, but not necessary.
  • ServSafe Certification
