Primary Purpose

As the Controller at Ecotone, you will serve as the principal accountant, overseeing all financial activities to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficient operations. You will collaborate with internal departments and external partners to maintain financial integrity and support the company's growth.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Management

· Manage the General Accounting Department, including Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.

· Oversee monthly close process, including WIP entries and account reconciliations.

· Prepare monthly Financial Statements (P&L, Cash Flow, Balance Sheet) ensuring compliance with GAAP.

· Assist with annual budget and rolling forecast processes, analyzing variances and explaining drivers to management.

· Lead day-to-day cash management against a weekly plan. Recommend accounts payable payments and manage accounts receivable collection. Manage bank loan repayments and draws.

Collaboration

· Work closely with internal departments (Project Management, Design, Engineering, Business Development) to ensure financial statement integrity and project cost tracking.

· Collaborate with external partners (Tax advisors, Audit firm, Bank representatives) to ensure compliance and financial optimization.

Reporting and Analysis

· Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management, evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points.

· Develop and propose financial metrics to track company progress.

Compliance and Oversight

· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and filings.

· Engage with outside auditors and tax professionals for fiscal monitoring and advanced financial services.

Team Management

· Supervise staff accountant(s), providing dynamic leadership to foster trust and productivity.

Process Improvement

· Identify areas for improvement and implement innovative process developments to maximize efficiency.

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

· Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience, preferably experience in construction industry, including percentage-of-completion contract accounting and job costing.

· Attention to detail, and the ability to manage complicated construction projects.

· Significant ability to communicate successfully and interact well with others.

· Exceptional time management skills and ability to work successfully on multiple tasks.

· Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and good judgment.

Typically, the Controller will be inside for the entire work day. Incumbents frequently will sit or stand at a work station much or all of a work day. Continuous use of arms and wrists to manipulate computers as well as routine exposure to computer screens is a regular aspect of the position.
