Durham Academy is Hiring an Extended Day Teacher Near Durham, NC

Durham Academy (DA) is seeking dedicated, energetic, experienced and creative people to be available to work in the Extended Day program for pre-K to eighth grade. This is a part-time position with a general schedule of 2:30–5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, beginning in August of 2024. There is an expectation of work on professional development days and other days when there is no school and we have children in our care. CPR and first aid certification are recommended. This person will spend their time guiding and observing play and facilitating healthy emotional and social relationships in a fun, low-structure setting.
Regular duties include developing trusting relationships with children, parents and teachers; supervising snack; organizing and preparing materials for the classroom and outdoor space; using activities and/or games; setting up/cleaning the classroom; tracking attendance; and supervising and/or assisting with homework, enrichment classes and more.
The successful candidate must feel comfortable keeping open lines of communication with the children, families, coworkers and other faculty members in the school and work well in a high-energy, team setting.
