Durham Academy is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory school serving students in grades Pre-kindergarten through 12. Enrollment for 2018-2019 school year is 1,228 students. Thirty-six percent are students of color. The purpose of Durham Academy is to provide each student an education that will enable him or her to live a moral, happy and productive life. The school has four divisions - Preschool, Lower School, Middle School and Upper School - each with its own Director. The divisions are on three campuses on 84 acres in the heart of Durham, North Carolina. Sixty-four percent of Durham Academy faculty have advanced degrees and faculty average 19 years of teaching experience. DA has two full-time college counselors with 100% of graduates attending a four-year college or university. The school has produced 49 National Merit Scholarship finalists over the last four years. DA fields 44 athletics teams in 20 different sports - 75% of students in grades 7 through 12 participate in athletics. Tuition for 2018-2019 ranges from $14,965-$25,925. DA awarded more than 2 million dollars in financial aid this year. After Care, Study Hall, Enrichments and Extended Day are offered after school. Summer Programs are offered for students ages 3-17.
