The Payroll Specialist is responsible for timely and accurate payroll and benefits administration, general employee support, and maintaining compliance with government regulations as well as internal policies and procedures. This role will report to the Manager of Compensation & Benefits.

This is a fully remote position. 

Base Pay Range

The base pay range of this position is $70,000 to $85,000 USD annually. Additional compensation through the Incentive Bonus Program is available for this position. 

Please note that the provided range reflects the pay spectrum for positions within the same job category as the one to which this position belongs. The final offer will consider various factors, such as location, education, and prior experience, to ensure a comprehensive and fair compensation assessment.

The Day-to-Day

The essential functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Payroll/Time and Attendance:

• Compile data and process semi-monthly and out-of-cycle payrolls for our multi-state US employees, as well as our international teams via our PEO; ensure timely and accurate compensation components
• Validate payroll adjustments, deductions, and withholdings while adhering to company policies and federal/state wage and hour laws
•  Assist employees with inquiries regarding paychecks, timecards, paid time off, and other absences
• Monitor timekeeping for accurate payroll processing and address any issues
• Create and maintain internal payroll processes that allow for scale
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
• Develop and manage regular payroll audits: timecards, benefit deductions, etc.
• Maintain and understand employee work location set up for SIT/SUTA/Work Comp
• Participate in new employee orientation to provide information and training to new employees regarding payroll and benefits eligibility

Benefits and Leave Administration:

•  Assist employees with benefit-related questions; direct to broker or carrier as needed
• Ensure data in the HR system is accurate, applicable forms are complete, and audit monthly benefit carrier invoices
• Administrate retirement plans and assist employees with questions
• Assist employees with medical leave and other leave questions, and process requests as applicable to federal, state, and company policies
• Support benefits administration, including compliance of health & welfare, 401(k), COBRA benefits, and annual open enrollment

Reporting & Analytics:

• Assist in preparing documents/reports for review by management, executive, and accounting teams as requested
• Assist in generating and analyzing internal and external compensation data to assist management in determining pay structures and compensation plans

Education and Experience

• Three to five years of related benefits and/or payroll experience

• Knowledge of and working experience with all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements affecting employee benefits programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, Social Security and DOL requirements

• A combination of professional or educational experience (whether formal or informal) that affords you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities above

• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including PowerPoint; Google Suite and experience with HRIS and benefits databases

• Project and team management/leadership skills and experience

• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates

• Effective planning and priority setting

• Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines

• Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs.

• Knowledge of benefits contract language
