American Society for Microbiology is Hiring a Web Platform Analyst-Journals (Hybrid) Near Washington, DC

Job Overview

The Web Platform Analyst’s is responsible for the day-to-day management of ASM's journal hosting platform. The purpose of this role is to enhance the journal's digital presence and reader engagement by overseeing the development and optimization of its web platform, thereby aligning with the department's goal of expanding our reach and accessibility.

Essential Functions (defines the critical end results expected of the jobholder related to the accountabilities above)

1.Oversee the daily operations of our journal hosting platform (Atypon). Ensure the platform’s stability, performance, and security.

2.Work closely with Atypon and other technology vendors to enhance the usability of the platform for both readers and publishers, ensure timely updates, upgrades, compliance, and fixes are implemented without disrupting service.

3.Implement web design and functional improvements based on user feedback and usability testing.

4.Provide technical support for issues related to the platform. Act as the first point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving platformrelated problems.

5.Monitor web analytics and create reports detailing usage patterns and performance metrics. Use data to drive decisions about potential improvements.

6.Lead projects for platform enhancements, including planning, budgeting, and execution. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget.

7.Work with IT, editorial, marketing, and customer service teams to develop and implement strategic plans for the platform.

Up to date on social media and uses it appropriately on behalf of ASM.

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role and may sit or use PC for long periods of time. Bending, reaching, or stooping may be necessary for use of filing cabinets or other office cabinets or office machines. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Travel Requirements: Less than 10%.

 Required Education and Experience

1.Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Web Development, or a related field.

2.5 years of experience in web platform management, preferably in a publishing or digital content distribution environment.

3.Experience in UX/UI design principles and methodologies.

4.Experience web technologies and languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and server-side frameworks.

Salary Range: Min $84,264.84 Mid $109,586.85 Max $134,908.86
