Mount Greylock Regional School District is Hiring a 0.6 FTE Multilingual Learning Teacher Near Williamstown, MA

Mount Greylock RSD seeks to hire a 0.6 FTE Multilingual Learner Teacher for the 2024-2025 academic year. This position is new and in addition to our current 2.0 FTE positions and it is anticipated that the successful applicant will be assigned to work in support of elementary-aged multilingual learners within our District by spending time within both of our two elementary school settings at Lanesborough Elementary (188 Summer Street Lanesborough, MA) and Williamstown Elementary (115 Church Street Williamstown, MA 01267). Our current teachers' contract can be reviewed on the HR page of our district's website.JOB TITLE: Multilingual Learning TeacherREPORTS TO: PrincipalPOSITION STATEMENT: The Multilingual Learning Teacher will facilitate and monitor the development of academic English language skills among students learning English as an additional language. We seek an educator who will celebrate the assets MLL students bring to the district, teach using a strength-based approach that honors their diversity of backgrounds and experiences and is committed to fostering that vision throughout the school community.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.Licensed, or eligible for licensure as an Academic Teacher in the field of English as a Second Language by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and possession of the SEI certification with Teacher endorsement. Excellent interpersonal communication skills both orally and in writing.Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and teaching strategies.Responsibilities & Essential Functions (which include but are not limited to):1. Provides English language instruction in alignment with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) English 2 Language Proficiency Benchmarks and Outcomes for English Language Learners (PK-6); 2. With the Director, manage, oversee, and administer assessments and testing in alignment with MA state requirements. 3. Responsible for Monitoring Opt-Outs as well as Former English Learner (FEL) students; completing progress reports and attending consultation meetings regarding FEL classification status.4. Assists in the coordination of home language surveys, initial calls, student placement, parent notification, and student benchmark plans for new enrollments to the District. 5. Assesses individual students’ development of academic English language using non-discriminatory, culturally sensitive, and developmentally appropriate language assessment procedures and instruments; 6. Designs and implements appropriate educational programs for each student including instruction in language features, genres, and registers across various academic content areas.7. Employs instructional methods and develops materials that are appropriate for the maturity and skill level of individual students aligned with WIDA ELD standards and “Can-do” Descriptors.8. Provides input and assists classroom teachers as needed to develop individual student accommodation and a process for differentiating instruction in classrooms for all students.9. Provide regular updates for teachers about student progress and the content of their MLL course. 10. Teach pullout MLL lessons with small groups and individual students.11. Provide inclusion support in content classes for Multilingual Learner (MLL) students as needed. 12. Work with the Director to manage program paperwork, training for teachers, family communication, student testing/screening, compliance, MLL folders.13. Communicate frequently with parents/guardians.14. Build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.15. Assist in the translation of district and school documents designed to inform parents such as letters, bulletins, announcements, calendars, notices, website information, etc. 16. Make provisions for being available to students and families for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required. 17. Maintain accurate records of all activities for the purpose of district and state auditors.18. Other duties as assigned.Provisions of Employment:Employment in this position is subject to the provisions of MGL Chapter 71 and the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Mount Greylock Education Association and the Mount Greylock Regional School Committee.
