Position Summary:

Responsible for performing thorough testing, identifying and resolving any issues or bugs found while utilizing various different backend services for new product releases.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this position successfully, an individual must fulfill the knowledge, skill, and/or ability requirements listed below.

• Develop test plans, strategies, and test cases for backend components based on project requirements and specifications.
• Execute test cases to validate the functionality, performance, security, and scalability of backend systems such as APIs, databases, servers, and other infrastructure components.
• Conduct testing of APIs to ensure accurate data communication and adherence to API specifications.
• Verify data integrity and consistency by performing database testing, data validation, and data migration testing.
• Conduct performance testing to assess the responsiveness, throughput, and resource utilization of backend systems under various load conditions.
• Identify and report security vulnerabilities by performing security testing, including penetration testing and vulnerability scanning.
• Collaborate with frontend testers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration between frontend and backend components.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using testing frameworks and tools to improve test efficiency and coverage.

• Create google docs and keep checklists updated for projects assigned to you.

• Review requirement documents and create/execute test cases as scheduled and reporting results.

• Support continuous improvements in test coverage and test effectiveness.

• Make recommendations to improve user experience of website and mobile applications.

• Submit bug / improvement tickets according to established procedures.

• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, to communicate with team members and stakeholders on issues.
• Experience with working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Preferred Education Requirements :

• Associates or Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent experience.

Required Experience :

• 1-2 years of previous experience in backend testing or software quality assurance, preferably in a web or mobile application development environment.

Required Technical skills:

• Proficiency in backend technologies such as RESTful APIs, GraphQL, SQ, JSON, XML etc.
• Knowledge of testing methodologies, tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Junit, TestNG, Postman, etc.
• Familiarity with Perfecto & Blazemeter or similar RESTful API and GraphQL tools.
• Familiarity with Datagrip or similar Database testing tools.
• Experience with Jira is an asset.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC).
